Stanley Ka Dabba- Treat for all!

The movie opens with an image of Stanley, played by Partho Gupte( None other than Amole Gupte's son), praying before a statue of Mother Mary and Baby Jesus in front of the school gate, looking all bruised and dirty! He tears the calendar sheet and sleeps off after completing his homework on the bench! And the director starts to makes you wonder "what could be this boy's story?" right from that moment!

I would prefer not to reveal the story and the narrative as it would be a spoiler for enjoying the movie!

The movie has a cast that is nothing less than BRILLIANT! Starting from the characters of Stanley, "khadoos", Rosy miss, Mrs.Iyer, the history teacher, aman mehra, abishek and the entire dabba gang are simply adorable and fit perfectly into the roles!

One of the BEST aspects of this movie is the wonderful and aesthetic cinematography that captures the food, the dabbas, the school, and the characters in such a brilliant manner that each scene keeps you engrossed and perfectly in tune with the theme of the movie!

Though the songs appear as montages, they are all enjoyable and the background score is impeccable enough to suit the movie!

The movie runs to a little over 90 mins and i enjoyed watching every single minute including the opening and the end credits!

"Rosy miss" played by Divya Dutta is one character that is bound to make us all reminiscent of the BEST teachers we have had during our school days! if You have not watched Divya Dutta in "Veer Zaara " and "Welcome to Sajjanpur", you ought to watch her in this to adore her!! I fell in love with Divya all over again!!

Mrs.Iyer, the maths teacher, the art teacher and the principal are all very natural and sure would take us back to thos good old schooldays which we would all love to re live!

"khadoos", the hindi teacher played by Amole himself has a lust for food and the way that Amole has brought the character to life is simply phenomenal!

Last but never the least, the character of STANLEY played so brilliantly by Partho deserves special mention!
Stanley makes his friends laugh, Stanley is shy to take food from his friends, Stanley satiates his hunger by drinking tap water, Stanley keeps saying that he's gonna eat hot food and never eats, Stanley recites wonderful poetry and writes funny essays, Stanley makes innovative science projects, Stanley dances and Stanley sings!Stanley makes us laugh, Stanley makes us cry, Stanley makes us sit up in shock, Stanley makes us bowled with surprise! Stanley is a boy that you and i may have been or the boy that w know and we have seen often! But what IS the story with Stanley?! why does not he bring a DABBA?!!

To know that and to reminisce your schooldays, grab a DVD or download the movie and sit with a dabba of popcorn and chips to le yourself into the world of STANLEY KA DABBA!!!
